Does the Use of Smart Board Increase Students’ Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)?

Results from international assessments focusing on the use of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) show that Malaysian students perform poorly in Data Handling. At same time, education system is undergoing a dramatic change which information and communications technology (ICT) integrated into order to enhance overall quality education. Smart board has become one interactive tools are widely used schools facilitate teaching learning practices. Therefore, this study aims design develop an active instruction using smart (ALuSB program) HOTS Handling among primary schools. The research was divided two stages. In first stage, ALuSB program developed by ADDIE model five phases, i.e., analysis, design, development, implement, evaluate. Then, second quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group with pre-test post-test, evaluate effectiveness students' HOTS. were split three groups equally, experimental group. Various instruments, including evaluation form as well post-test rubrics, used. results analysis suggest there statistically significant difference between program, conventional method enhancing each level students. Although all improvements Handling, most effective compared method. promotes ownership learning, supports doing, encourages peer sharing.
